TIME TO GET BACK IN THE STUDIO
You might have studied art years ago before life took you in another direction. Perhaps work or family took over, perhaps you lost confidence, or perhaps you continued making but no longer knew where the work was going.
You may be considering returning to art school, building a portfolio, or simply wanting to take your work seriously again.
Whatever interrupted your practice, you are not starting from nothing.
WE BEGIN WITH THE WORK
We start with what you are making, what you have made in the past, and what you would like to be making now.
I look closely at the work with you, identify the ideas and interests that are already present, and consider where they might lead. We may bring in artists and references, address practical obstacles, or examine the habits and assumptions that have made it difficult to continue.
This is not about telling you what kind of artist you should be. It is about strengthening your ability to recognise what matters in your own work - and finding practical ways to develop it.
THE SIX-MONTH STUDIO RESET
Six months gives us enough time not only to talk about returning to your work, but to support what happens once you begin: the questions, discoveries, uncertainties and changes of direction that are part of developing a practice.
We begin with two individual Zoom sessions during the first month. After that, we meet once a month for the remainder of the programme.
Across the six months, there are three studio correspondence cycles. You send me images of your work and a short letter about what is happening in your practice. I spend time looking closely and respond with a substantial written review that you can absorb, return to and respond to through your work.
A brief weekly WhatsApp check-in provides continuity between our longer exchanges. It is a place to share an update, an image or a question and remain connected to the process without constant assessment.
The programme includes:
Seven individual Zoom sessions
Three studio correspondence cycles with substantial written feedback
A brief weekly WhatsApp check-in
Six months of sustained attention to your developing practice
FEE
£1,500
Pay in full or in six monthly instalments of £250.
I work with no more than three artists at a time.
Start dates are arranged individually following the initial conversation.
